Key appointment in the Island State

AgriProve is proud to announce the appointment of Duncan Farquhar as Regional Operations Manager Tasmania.

AgriProve is Australia’s leading soil carbon project developer with a proven commercial model of soil carbon farming. AgriProve partners with farmers in the field to build soil carbon and undertakes all the reporting, monitoring and verification required to sell carbon credits under the Emission Reduction Fund.

As Regional Operations Manager, Duncan’s initial focus will be on supporting landholders’ participation in soil carbon projects across Tasmania.

AgriProve Managing Director Matthew Warnken said “Tasmania is already a carbon positive state and AgriProve will help bring this advantage together in developing a strong local export industry in carbon credits.”

AgriProve is committed to building soil carbon in Tasmania and Duncan is well placed to play a unique role managing the growing portfolio.  His industry experience and local knowledge across agriculture and agribusiness settings in Tasmania will be invaluable in partnering with local farmers and strengthening AgriProve’s talented team. 

Duncan grew up on red soil in the Northeast Tasmanian town of Winnaleah.  Highlights of his agricultural career include experience in essential oils, forestry, horticulture, wine, emerging industries with AgriFutures and teaching agribusiness, economics and agricultural finance at Charles Sturt University. 

Duncan has a Bachelor of Agricultural Science and Masters of Business Administration from the University of Tasmania.  He is a graduate of member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Professional member of the Australian Society of Viticulture and Oenology and recently completed studies in Public Policy Analysis with the London School of Economics.

“On a personal level it’s great to be back among Tasmanian family and friends.  New industries, biodiversity and natural resource management are personal passions of mine. Tasmania’s university is an important institution nurturing global talents.  I hope to draw on these talents and contribute to the health of Tasmania’s soils where I can,” says Duncan.
