Clean Energy Regulator’s 2021 Soil Carbon Methodology another important evolution in approach
Designed in collaboration with scientists and technical experts, potential end-users
Leading soil carbon solutions company AgriProve updates financial model for farmers to support greater take-up and drive even better outcomes
10 December 2021: Leading soil carbon solutions company AgriProve says the increased flexibility, transparency and expanded approach of the Australian Government’s just released 2021 Soil Carbon Methodology will provide a significant boost for take-up of carbon sequestration on a broad scale while also boosting farm productivity.
The new soil carbon method introduces innovative models that will make it easier for farmers to partner with AgriProve on soil carbon projects by reducing soil carbon project costs and annualising payment opportunities for carbon credits. The eligible activity framework has expanded to allow farmers to further embrace soil carbon sequestration, enhance crop and livestock yields and boost resilience to drought and erosion.

“The Clean Energy Regulator’s commitment to working closely and collaboratively with project developers, representative bodies, scientists and technical experts has resulted in a new, improved approach to measurement and modelling estimates of soil carbon change within a more transparent and flexible framework.”
“This methodology is a testament to the great work done by the Regulator and also to the comprehensive codesign process with the Soil Carbon Industry Group directors and members as well as participants from the Carbon Market Institute Soil Carbon Taskforce. The 2021 method reinforces the Regulator’s role as a global leader in soil carbon measurement and regulation which will result in unparalleled data driven insights for farmers and the agricultural sector, enabling them to be both agricultural and environmental world leaders.”
“AgriProve is proud to have played an active role in the consultation on the new method to drive significant advantages for participating farmers as well continuing to increase the cumulative benefit for our environment. To maximise those benefits, AgriProve is transitioning all existing projects to the new method and has begun registering projects under the 2021 approach.”
“In order to support even greater take-up of soil carbon under this important initiative, AgriProve has updated our model to include payment for all post baseline measurement rounds for soil carbon projects under the 2021 method as part of our existing success fee. We also continue to invest in our technology and processes and have a number of remote sensing models now ready to test to maximise the carbon credit yield for farmers.”
“AgriProve is proud to be continuing to lead the way in creating and supporting the implementation of soil carbon projects which are evidence based, driven by robust research review and which optimize the biological pathways to productivity for our partner farmers.”
