All outcomes tracked in one place through Justin’s AgriProve account.
24 September 2025: On his 422‑hectare property at Tintaldra, Justin Costello has already been issued 457 ACCUs after improving soil health through evidence‑based grazing and pasture changes. Baseline soil sampling was funded through a deferred‑ACCU arrangement offered by AgriProve, allowing the project to start sooner while conserving cashflow.
Verified soil improvement has underpinned access to premium markets. Through his AgriProve account, Justin has activated credentials for the Greenham NEVER EVER Program and the Greenham Beef Sustainability Standard (GBSS). As an individual landholder, these programs have quoted him returns 7 –10% above average saleyard prices.
Using the same verified data, Justin has also qualified for the Grasslands program at Teys Wagga. Those early results have provided the foundation for everything else. With verified improvements in his soils, and credits already issued, Justin has also been able to:
Reinvest off the back of the project’s success by purchasing CERESTAG livestock monitoring devices, further enhancing productivity and animal welfare.
Strengthen overall farm resilience, knowing that the soil carbon project is not just delivering environmental benefits, but also underpinning financial returns and market access.
“Utilising the AgriProve Platform, we have gained insights into our herd. These insights highlighted the importance of a better system for troughs and the need for more shade - we’ve seen clear productivity and animal‑welfare benefits from shade and shelterbelts.”
“I think differently now since being in a carbon project - focusing on shade, water points and rest periods, rather than just the price of urea. The AgriProve Platform brings together the insights I need to manage better.”
“What’s changed for me is having options. With the soil carbon project and the data in my AgriProve account, I’m no longer just taking whatever the market gives me — I can access different premium programs and choose the one that suits my business best. It feels like I’m becoming more of a price maker than a price taker, and that gives me confidence to plan ahead.”
Justin’s experience highlights how soil carbon, premium credentials, herd insights, and flexible payment arrangements are not isolated achievements but connected opportunities. Together, they form a roadmap for Australian farmers looking to improve productivity, profitability, and long-term resilience.
AgriProve CEO Stuart Upton:
“Margins are tight and volatility is up. Justin shows that by putting soil health first, farmers can build resilience and profitability. The AgriProve Platform helps cut through complexity - analysing a property, surfacing opportunities, lining up partners and capital, and managing the work through to outcomes. For farmers like Justin, it’s less friction and more value, from the ground up.”
