Matthew has been leading consulting teams around start-up projects in resource recovery and renewable energy for the last decade. Matthew has a wide range of experience. From a practical and operational perspective he led the establishment of a wood derived fuel pilot plant for a cement kiln. From a carbon markets perspective he led a client through the accreditation process with Greenhouse Friendly, to secure accreditation for over 300,000 tonnes of voluntary carbon abatement.
Matthew Warnken has formal training in natural resource management, and undergraduate qualifications in Arts and Science from the Australian National University. He has a Masters of Engineering Research from the University of Sydney, and a business Masters in early stage commercialisation from the University of Adelaide.
Gary Wyatt joined AgriProve having spent the previous thirteen years working in commodities trading for ANZ Banking Group and Rand Merchant Bank. Gary’s trading experience spans the metals markets (precious and base), petroleum (crude oil and refined products), electricity (Australia and New Zealand) and environmental certificates (Australian, New Zealand and Europe). Most recently he ran ANZ’s Energy Trading desk, where he oversaw their activity in energy and environmental markets. He is also experienced in finance, having worked in Standard Bank’s structured finance area.
He holds a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering and a BSc (Honours) degree in financial mathematics.
Eric Smith is an Investment Officer for the Grantham Environmental Trust where he co-manages Neglected Climate Opportunities. He leads investments in businesses and technology in agriculture and oceans that can sequester or mitigate greenhouse gas emissions at scale. Eric was previously a venture fellow with SJF Ventures and worked for BlackRock on climate finance, in addition to providing advisory and audit services to forest based carbon projects.
He is a graduate of the dual degree program at Duke University, having received his MBA and Master of Forestry, and served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Costa Rica.
A recent addition to the AgriProve team, Stephen brings over 19 years experience designing, developing and delivering business solutions. Having worked in private enterprise, local government and startup, he is resourceful and adaptable.
He has an Executive MBA from the University of Technology Sydney as well as a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the University of Canberra.

Alexandra is an award-winning science communicator. Her boutique consultancy, de Blas Communications, supports organisations committed to restoring, imagining and building a sustainable future. During the eight years she presented and produced Earthbeat, ABC Radio National’s environment program, she received six international and national awards including: The 3rd World Water Forum Journalist’s prize, Kyoto, Japan and the United Nations Association of Australia World Environment Day Award.
She has a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Sydney, First Class Honours in Environmental Studies from the University of Tasmania and received the inaugural Vincent Fairfax Ethics in Leadership Award. She grew up on a farm in Tasmania’s Derwent Valley producing hops and superfine wool. Her media career began as an ABC rural reporter in Longreach, outback Queensland.
